Dental implant is implementation of metal device in patient’s jawbone to provide stable platform and support to attach an artificial tooth, crown, denture to the jaw. The procedure is used to replace a damaged or missing tooth with an artificial one.
A dental implant consists of three parts: crown, abutment and screw. Crown is the top part of an implant which looks like your natural tooth. Abutment functions as a connector, attaching the crown to the screw. Screw functions as the root of your tooth, stabilizing the crown into the jawbone.
Implants are widely made out of titanium and titanium alloys. In some cases, zirconia is preferred to be used.
Some patients may only get their screw implant done abroad and crown placement in their home country, while others may do the whole procedure abroad by travelling twice.
